Advancing Equality Through Advocacy & Human Rights

Prism Society works to promote legal and policy reforms that protect LGBTQIA+ individuals and other marginalized communities from discrimination, criminalization, violence, and unequal treatment. Our advocacy focuses on encouraging laws, policies, and institutional procedures that respect dignity, privacy, equality, and fundamental human rights.

We engage with public institutions, civil-society organizations, legal professionals, researchers, and human-rights advocates to identify laws and procedures that may negatively affect people because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or sex characteristics.

Our work may include documenting human-rights violations, conducting research, developing policy recommendations, contributing to public discussions, and raising awareness about the social, legal, and economic harm caused by discriminatory laws and practices.

Prism Society also works to strengthen networks of qualified lawyers, legal researchers, and paralegals who understand LGBTQIA+ rights and can provide respectful and informed support. Through training, cooperation, and referral pathways, we aim to improve access to legal information and representation for individuals facing arrest, detention, workplace discrimination, family violence, blackmail, or other protection concerns.

Our long-term objective is to contribute to a legal environment in which every person is treated equally, protected from abuse, and able to access justice without fear of stigma or discrimination.

Digital platforms have become essential spaces for communication, education, community building, advocacy, and access to services. However, they may also expose LGBTQIA+ individuals and other marginalized groups to harassment, hate speech, blackmail, impersonation, privacy violations, surveillance, and unwanted disclosure of personal information.

Prism Society works to identify and understand patterns of online harm across social-media platforms, messaging applications, dating platforms, and other digital spaces. We examine how online abuse can develop into offline discrimination, family violence, employment consequences, detention risks, or threats to an individual’s safety.

Our digital-rights advocacy promotes privacy, freedom of expression, responsible platform policies, safer reporting systems, and stronger protections against technology-facilitated abuse. We also work to improve public understanding of digital safety and encourage institutions to respond appropriately to online violence.

Activities may include documenting digital-rights violations, conducting research, producing awareness materials, organizing digital-security training, and cooperating with regional activists and technology specialists.

Prism Society also supports efforts to identify harmful words, expressions, stereotypes, and forms of hate speech used against LGBTQIA+ communities in Arabic and other languages. Understanding how this language changes across countries and dialects can help platforms, researchers, and civil-society organizations develop more effective and culturally informed responses.

Our goal is to help create online environments where people can communicate, organize, learn, and seek support without being exposed to intimidation, exploitation, or discrimination.

Prism Society works to strengthen LGBTQIA+ inclusion across institutions, professional sectors, civil-society organizations, educational environments, healthcare services, humanitarian programs, media institutions, and community spaces.

Our objective is to ensure that issues affecting LGBTQIA+ individuals are understood, respected, and included in wider discussions concerning human rights, healthcare, education, social protection, employment, justice, and public policy.

We cooperate with professionals and organizations that want to improve their ability to serve people of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and sex characteristics. This includes lawyers, social workers, educators, journalists, healthcare professionals, psychologists, humanitarian workers, policymakers, researchers, and community organizers.

Prism Society develops awareness sessions, consultation programs, training materials, institutional guidance, and specialized capacity-building modules. These activities help participants better understand respectful terminology, confidentiality, discrimination, barriers to service access, inclusive communication, and appropriate referral procedures.

Ally building is not limited to increasing knowledge. It also requires organizations to review their internal policies, professional practices, physical environments, communication methods, and complaint procedures.

By building long-term alliances, Prism Society seeks to increase the number of safe and inclusive institutions where LGBTQIA+ individuals can access legal, medical, psychological, educational, social, and humanitarian support with dignity and respect.

Prism Society advocates for workplaces in which all individuals are treated fairly and are protected from discrimination, harassment, dismissal, violence, unequal pay, blackmail, and exclusion based on their sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, sex characteristics, or other personal attributes.

Our work supports labor-law and workplace-policy reforms that establish clear protections against discrimination. We encourage employers, professional associations, unions, public institutions, and civil-society organizations to adopt inclusive recruitment, employment, promotion, complaint, and safeguarding procedures.

Prism Society approaches labor rights from an intersectional perspective. LGBTQIA+ workers may also experience barriers connected to disability, gender, nationality, migration status, economic background, age, health conditions, or lack of documentation.

For this reason, we work alongside organizations and movements representing women, migrant workers, people with disabilities, undocumented individuals, and other marginalized communities. This cooperation helps ensure that labor reforms reflect the experiences and needs of different groups.

Our advocacy also addresses equal access to social security, health insurance, workplace benefits, complaint mechanisms, legal support, and justice following employment-related violations.

Depending on available programs, Prism Society may document workplace discrimination, provide general legal information, or refer affected individuals to qualified lawyers and labor-rights organizations.

Our aim is to support safer workplaces where individuals are evaluated according to their qualifications and professional performance rather than their identity or personal background.

Prism Society’s Advocacy Lab is a capacity-building initiative designed to support emerging and experienced advocates who are working toward equality, inclusion, community empowerment, and human-rights protection.

The program helps participants strengthen their strategic thinking, leadership, communication, planning, research, campaign development, and community-mobilization skills. It provides advocates with tools that can be applied to complex social and political environments.

Through workshops, practical exercises, peer learning, mentorship, and group discussions, participants examine how human-rights challenges develop and how institutions, laws, public attitudes, media narratives, and economic conditions influence them.

Participants learn how to analyze complex systems, identify decision makers and stakeholders, establish realistic objectives, evaluate risks, build alliances, communicate effectively, and select suitable methods of intervention.

The Advocacy Lab also explores the organization of people, information, financial resources, partnerships, and different forms of influence. Participants may apply these skills when developing awareness campaigns, policy initiatives, community projects, public engagement strategies, or responses to human-rights violations.

Each workshop may be adapted to the experience, needs, and objectives of participating advocates. Some sessions may focus on campaign planning, while others address leadership, public communication, evidence-based advocacy, coalition building, digital engagement, safeguarding, or monitoring and evaluation.

The program ultimately seeks to strengthen a sustainable network of advocates who can develop community-led solutions and contribute to meaningful change in Lebanon and the wider region.
